From Germany To California! Meet Lisa, Our Santa Monica Intern.
Lisa Fritsche, a German intern at CEL in LA, enjoys beachside work, assisting students, and exploring the West Coast before returning to Germany.

Hi there, my name is Lisa Fritsche. I’m from Germany and I came to Los Angeles in February 2023 where I will be studying English and also, interning at CEL.
I decided to go to Santa Monica because I always wanted to live and work close to the beach and in a big city at the same time. I have been to the East Coast a couple of times before which is why I wanted to experience living on the West Coast.
CEL Los Angeles Santa Monica is the best place to learn English and work in my opinion because it offers me the opportunity to explore Los Angeles and cities close to LA after I finish work. I will be staying at CEL until August but I would like to stay a little longer in order to travel around the West Coast.
My main responsibilities as a CEL intern are assisting Jasmine, who is the Student Services coordinator. I help her to prepare orientation documents for new students and organize level-up tests for students who want to go to a higher-level class. I also print and distribute curriculums, grades, and attendance sheets to teachers. I’m really enjoying working at an American company because it is fun to speak English at work. I also like meeting people from different countries, which happens at CEL every day. I will have improved my English a lot by the time I go back to Germany, which is useful for university.
I have a lot of spots that I like in Los Angeles, but my favorite place so far is "The Playground" which is a famous dance studio on Melrose Ave in West Hollywood. I also enjoy going to Santa Monica Beach and Ocean Park as often as possible.
I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to live and work in LA for such a long time. I already met so many amazing people from all over the world.
